Things to do in Cloverdale

Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve
The serene, majestic beauty of this Grove is a living reminder of the magnificent primeval redwood forest that covered much of this area before logging operations began during the 19th century. Armstrong Redwoods preserves stately and magnificent Sequoia sempervirens, commonly known as the coast redwood. These trees stand together as a testament to the wonders of the natural world. The Grove offers solace from the hustle and bustle of daily life, offering the onlooker great inspiration and a place for quiet reflection.

Clear Lake State Park
Clear Lake State Park is on the shores of California’s largest freshwater lake. The area is popular for all kinds of water recreation, including swimming, fishing, boating and water-skiing.

Hendy Woods State Park
The park features two virgin redwood groves; Big Hendy with a self-guided discovery trail and Little Hendy. The Navarro River runs the length of the park. Located in the middle of the Anderson Valley wine district, this park is warmer and less foggy than redwood parks along the coast. The park is well known for a fallen redwood stump that was home for a man known locally as the Hendy Woods Hermit.

Lake Mendocino
Lake Mendocino is set amongst the rolling hills and oak groves of Mendocino county near the headwaters of the picturesque Russian River, one of the cleanest rivers in the country. Created by the construction of Coyote Dam on the East Fork of the Russian River in 1958, the lake has a surface area of 1,822 acres. The structure provides flood damage reduction, water conservation, hydroelectric power, and recreational opportunities like hiking, water skiing and boating.

Sierra National Forest
The Sierra National Forest, located on the western slope of the central Sierra Nevada, is known for its spectacular mountain scenery and abundant natural resources. The Sierra National Forest encompasses more than 1.3 million acres between 900 and 13,986 feet in elevation. Call 877-444-6777 for more information.
