Angel Island State Park

Belmont Park
Built in1925 by sugar magnate John D. Spreckles, this amusement park reopened in the late 1980s and is the only beachside amusement park in southern California. Perhaps the biggest draw is the Giant Dipper, the original wooden roller coaster. Call 858-228-9283 for more information.

Cabrillo National Monument
On September 28, 1542, Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo landed at San Diego Bay. This event marked the first time that a European expedition had set foot on what later became the west coast of the United States. His accomplishments were memorialized on October 14, 1913 with the establishment of Cabrillo National Monument. Call 619-557-5450 for more information.

Gaslamp Quarter

San Diego Zoo

Silver Strand State Beach
This stretch of sandy beach serves as the peninsula separating the San Diego Bay from the Pacific Ocean. Nestled between natural dunes and endangered plants and species are recreational opportunities such as swimming, surfing, windsurfing, fishing, hiking, picnicking or just building a simple sandcastle. Wild Animal Park
The Wild Animal Park is an expansive wildlife sanctuary that is home to more than 3,500 animals representing more than 400 species. Its renowned botanical collection represents 3,500 species and 1.5 million specimens. Over half of the Park's 1,800 acres have been set aside as protected native species habitat.
