Aquarium of the Pacific
Aquarium of the Pacific, off of Shoreline Dr. at 100 Aquarium Way, features 19 major habitats and 32 focus exhibits representing three regions of the Pacific Ocean: Southern California/Baja, Tropical Pacific and Northern Pacific. Sharks, otters, harbor seals, sea lions, Pacific octopus, clown fish and giant Japanese spider crabs are just a few of the more than 500 species that can be seen. Shark Lagoon, a 10,000 square foot lagoon, offers visitors the opportunity to touch bamboo, nurse, epaulette and zebra sharks in shallow pools. Drum Barracks Civil War Museum
Drum Barracks Civil War Museum is at 1052 Banning Blvd. The museum is housed in the 1862 Junior Officers Quarters, the only remaining wooden building of the 22 that composed the Drum Barracks post 1862-71. The rooms now display items from that period, including a Gatling Gun, furniture, artwork, photographs, documents and a scale model of the original 60-acre post. Fisherman's Village
Fisherman's Village overlooks the Marina del Rey harbor. The colorful New England-style buildings house specialty shops and restaurants. Skates, bicycles, sailboats, electric boats, motorboats, personal watercraft and kayaks are available for rent. Harbor cruises, deep-sea sportfishing and whale-watching trip, trips to Catalina Island and water taxi service are available. Free Saturday and Sunday afternoon concerts are given. Los Angeles Maritime Museum
Los Angeles Maritime Museum, Berth 84 at the foot of 6th St., contains local nautical memorabilia, including historical photographs of Los Angeles Harbor, ships models and assorted maritime equipment from the USS Los Angeles.
